What is image metadata (EXIF)?
Metadata is hidden information saved inside an image file. It can include the date and time a photo was taken, the camera and lens, exposure settings, edit history, and even GPS coordinates of where the shot was made. BareMeta shows you all of it, then lets you download a copy with it removed.
How do I remove location (GPS) data from a photo?
Open the photo in BareMeta, and any GPS coordinates stored in it are shown under the GPS group. Click clean and download to get a copy with the location and other metadata stripped out. Everything happens on your device, so the photo is never uploaded.
Does BareMeta upload my photos?
No. BareMeta reads and cleans your images entirely inside your own web browser. Your files are never sent to a server, and there is no storage, no account, and no tracking. You can confirm this by watching the network tab in your browser developer tools.
Is BareMeta free?
Yes. Inspecting metadata, removing all metadata, and cleaning a single file are free forever. Optional Pro features such as removing only selected groups and batch processing are planned for the future.
Which image formats are supported?
BareMeta works with JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, and TIFF, including animated PNG and WebP and multipage TIFF.
Does removing metadata reduce image quality?
No. BareMeta removes only the metadata, leaving the actual pixels untouched. There is no re-encoding, so there is no quality loss, no color shift, and animations are preserved.
How do I remove metadata on iPhone or Android?
Open baremeta.net in your phone browser and pick a photo. Because everything runs in the browser, no app install is needed, though you can add BareMeta to your home screen for quick access.
What are Content Credentials (C2PA)?
Content Credentials, based on the C2PA standard, are provenance records some tools attach to an image to describe how it was made or edited, including whether generative AI was involved. BareMeta shows what these records claim without verifying them, and lets you keep or strip them.
Does BareMeta work offline?
Yes. After your first visit the app shell is cached, so metadata inspection and cleaning work with no network connection. Only the optional GPS map preview needs the internet to load map tiles.

コンテンツ認証情報は C2PA 規格に基づく来歴記録で、画像がどう作られ編集されたか（生成 AI が関わったかを含む）を示すために一部のツールが付与します。BareMeta はその記録の内容を検証せずに表示し、保持するか削除するかを選べます。
オフラインで使えますか？
はい。初回アクセス後はアプリ本体がキャッシュされ、メタデータの確認とクリーンはネット接続なしで動きます。オプションの GPS 地図プレビューだけは地図タイル読み込みのためにネットが必要です。
