Please read these Terms carefully. By using BareMeta you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. About the service
BareMeta ("the service", "we", "us", or "our") is a free web tool that lets you inspect and remove metadata from image files (such as JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, and TIFF). By design, all processing happens locally in your web browser on your own device. Your images are not uploaded to our servers, and we do not see, store, or transmit them. The service is operated by an individual developer based in Japan and can be reached at [email protected].
2. Provided "as is" — no warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, subject to the limitation of liability in section 3. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that it will meet your requirements, and we make no warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
3. Limitation of liability
Always verify the result yourself before sharing an image. Metadata handling is technically complex, and no tool can guarantee that every trace is removed from every file in every format.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the service, including but not limited to:
- Loss or corruption of data, including your original or cleaned image files;
- Metadata that is not fully removed — for example residual, vendor-specific, or unsupported metadata that the tool did not detect or strip;
- Inaccuracy of the inspection results, including the parsing and display of EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, and similar metadata;
- Inaccuracy of any provenance / Content Credentials (C2PA) display. BareMeta shows such provenance as it is claimed in the file and does not verify it cryptographically — a credential being present does not mean it is proven.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. In particular, this section does not exclude or limit liability for damage caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, nor any liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory consumer-protection law (including, for consumers in Japan, the Consumer Contract Act (消費者契約法)). Because the service is provided free of charge and runs entirely on your device, any liability that does remain is limited to the maximum extent the law allows.
4. Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use, inspect, and modify any image you process — for example, that it is your own image or that you are otherwise authorised to handle it.
- You are responsible for verifying the output yourself (for instance, by re-inspecting the cleaned file) before relying on it or sharing it, especially where the stakes of an accidental disclosure are high.
- You are responsible for keeping your own backups of any files you value.
5. Intellectual property
Your images remain entirely yours. We claim no ownership of, and no rights in, any image or file you process with the service, and we do not collect, retain, or transmit them. The BareMeta name, brand, source code, and design are owned by their respective rights holders; third-party open-source components are governed by their own licences, listed on our Licenses page.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the service:
- for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
- to process images you have no right to handle, or to remove or alter metadata for the purpose of infringing the rights of others, deceiving, or committing fraud;
- to attempt to disrupt, attack, reverse-engineer for malicious ends, or otherwise interfere with the integrity or security of the service.
7. No account required
BareMeta does not require you to create an account or provide personal information to use it. See our Privacy Policy for details on the (minimal) data involved.
8. Free and "Pro" features
Core features — full metadata inspection, removal of all metadata, and single-file cleaning — are free. Certain features are labelled "Pro" (for example selective per-group removal and batch processing with ZIP download).
The "Pro" label is a preview of a planned future offering; at present every feature is free of charge and there is no actual payment. "Pro" status is currently only a flag stored locally in your browser; no money changes hands and no payment information is collected. If a paid plan is introduced in the future, separate purchase terms and the disclosures required by Japanese law (including the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions, 特定商取引法) will be provided at that time.
9. Third-party services
The optional GPS map preview loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap. If you use that feature, the approximate geographic area of your image (derived from its coordinates) is sent to OpenStreetMap's tile servers in order to fetch the tiles; your image file itself is not sent. This happens only when you choose to view the map. OpenStreetMap is operated independently and under its own terms and privacy policy. See our Privacy Policy for more detail.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Where a change is material and disadvantageous to users, we will give reasonable advance notice of the change and its effective date before it takes effect. Your continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to the service or these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance. However, for a user who is a consumer, this agreement on jurisdiction is non-exclusive: it does not prevent the consumer from bringing or being sued in any other court that has jurisdiction under the Consumer Contract Act, the Code of Civil Procedure, or other mandatory law.

1. サービスについて
BareMeta（以下「本サービス」「当方」といいます）は、画像ファイル（JPEG・PNG・WebP・HEIC・AVIF・TIFF など）のメタデータを確認・除去できる無料のウェブツールです。設計上、すべての処理はお使いの端末のブラウザ内で ローカルに行われます。画像が当方のサーバーにアップロードされることはなく、当方が画像を 閲覧・保存・送信することもありません。本サービスは日本を拠点とする個人開発者により運営されており、連絡先は [email protected] です。
2. 現状有姿での提供・無保証
本サービスは、「現状有姿」かつ「提供可能な範囲」で、いかなる保証も伴わずに提供されます。 適用される法令で認められる最大限の範囲において、かつ第3条（責任の制限）に従うことを条件として、明示・黙示・ 法令上のいずれの保証も行いません。本サービスが中断しないこと、エラーがないこと、安全であること、利用者の要求を 満たすことを保証するものではなく、商品性・特定目的への適合性・権利非侵害についても保証しません。
3. 責任の制限
画像を共有する前に、必ずご自身で結果をご確認ください。 メタデータの取り扱いは技術的に複雑であり、あらゆる形式のあらゆるファイルから痕跡を完全に除去できることを 保証できるツールは存在しません。
適用される法令で認められる最大限の範囲において、当方は、本サービスの利用または利用できないことに起因または 関連して生じた間接的・付随的・特別・結果的・懲罰的損害その他の損失について、責任を負いません。これには 以下を含みますが、これらに限られません。
- 元画像・クリーン化後の画像を含むデータの消失または破損
- メタデータの除去漏れ。たとえば、ツールが検出・除去できなかった残留メタデータ、ベンダー 固有のメタデータ、未対応のメタデータなど
- EXIF・GPS・XMP・IPTC などの解析・表示を含む、検査結果の不正確性
- 来歴情報・コンテンツ認証情報（C2PA）の表示の不正確性。 BareMeta はファイル内で申告された来歴情報をそのまま表示するものであり、暗号的な検証は行いません。 認証情報が存在することは、その内容が正しいことを意味しません。
本規約のいかなる定めも、法令上許されない範囲で当方の責任を排除・制限するものではありません。とりわけ、本条は、 当方の故意または重過失による損害についての責任、および消費者契約法その他の 強行法規により排除・制限できない責任を、排除または制限するものではありません。本サービスは無償で提供され、 かつ完全に利用者の端末上で動作するものであるため、なお当方が負う責任は、法令上認められる範囲に限定されます。
4. 利用者の責任
- 処理する画像を利用・確認・加工する権利を有していること（たとえば、ご自身の画像であること、または取り扱う 正当な権限があること）を、利用者ご自身が確認する責任を負います。
- とりわけ誤って情報が漏れた場合の影響が大きい場合には、出力結果を信頼し、または共有する前に、 ご自身で出力を検証する（たとえばクリーン化後のファイルを再度確認する）責任を負います。
- 大切なファイルについては、利用者ご自身でバックアップを保持する責任を負います。
5. 知的財産
利用者の画像は、すべて利用者に帰属します。 当方は、利用者が本サービスで処理する画像・ファイルについて、いかなる所有権も権利も主張せず、また収集・保存・ 送信も行いません。BareMeta の名称・ブランド・ソースコード・デザインは、それぞれの権利者に帰属します。第三者の オープンソース構成要素は、それぞれのライセンスに従います（ライセンスページ参照）。
6. 禁止される利用
利用者は、以下の目的で本サービスを利用しないことに同意します。
- 違法な目的、または適用される法令・規則に違反する利用
- 取り扱う権利のない画像の処理、または他者の権利を侵害し、欺き、もしくは詐欺を行う目的でのメタデータの除去・改変
- 本サービスの完全性・安全性を妨害し、攻撃し、悪意をもってリバースエンジニアリングし、その他干渉する行為
7. アカウント不要
BareMeta の利用にあたり、アカウントの作成や個人情報の提供は必要ありません。関係する（ごく限られた）データに ついては、プライバシーポリシーをご覧ください。
8. 無料機能と「Pro」機能
中核となる機能（メタデータの完全な確認、すべてのメタデータの除去、1ファイルのクリーン化）は無料です。一部の機能は 「Pro」と表示されています（たとえば、グループごとの選択的除去や、ZIP ダウンロードを伴う一括処理など）。
「Pro」表記は将来提供を予定している機能の予告であり、現在はすべての機能が無償で、実際の決済はありません。 現時点では「Pro」状態はブラウザにローカルで保存されるフラグにすぎず、金銭のやり取りは発生せず、決済情報も 収集しません。将来的に有料プランを導入する場合は、その時点で別途の購入規約、および日本の法令（特定商取引法を含む）が 求める表示を整備します。
9. 第三者サービス
任意の GPS 地図プレビューは、OpenStreetMap から地図タイルを読み込みます。この機能を使うと、 画像の座標から導かれるおおよその地理的範囲が、タイルを取得するために OpenStreetMap のタイルサーバーへ送信されます （画像ファイル自体は送信されません）。これは、利用者が地図表示を選んだ場合にのみ発生します。OpenStreetMap は独立 して運営されており、独自の規約・プライバシーポリシーに従います。詳細はプライバシーポリシーを ご覧ください。
10. 本規約の変更
当方は、本規約を随時改定することがあります。改定した場合は、上部の「最終更新日」を更新します。利用者に不利益となる 重要な変更を行う場合には、その効力発生に先立ち、変更内容および効力発生時期について相当な予告期間をもって周知します。 改定の発効後も本サービスを継続して利用された場合、改定後の規約に同意したものとみなされます。
11. 準拠法および管轄
本規約は、抵触法の規定にかかわらず、日本法に準拠します。本サービスまたは本規約に起因または関連 する一切の紛争については、東京地方裁判所を第一審の合意管轄裁判所とします。ただし、利用者が消費者で ある場合、この管轄の合意は専属的なものではなく、消費者契約法・民事訴訟法その他の強行法規により 認められる他の裁判所の管轄を妨げるものではありません。
